Xiamen University Shall:
1. Pay faculty a remuneration (including salaries, subsidies, bonuses and welfare benefits). Under the relevant laws and statutes, Xiamen University will withhold faculty’s social insurance and personal income taxes on remunerations paid to faculty.
2. Safeguard faculty’s rights according to the law;
3. Provide faculty with good working and living conditions:
(1) Office, laboratory and equipments
Xiamen University provides employees necessary office, laboratory and equipment in order to build a good working platform.
(2) Research Funds
In the term of faculty’s employment, Xiamen University provides faculty with a research startup fund. All research funds shall be devoted to activities relating to teaching and research. The disbursement of the funds shall conform to the financial management regulations of Xiamen University, and all receipts and vouchers used for reimbursements shall be genuine, legal and valid.
(3) Housing
Before faculty purchases housing, Xiamen University shall provide an apartment on campus .
(4) Social Insurance
Under national regulations, recruited employees and their spouses and dependents are entitled to various types of social insurance in China, including basic pension, basic medical care, and job-related injury insurance. Xiamen University shall assist faculty in completing the formalities for such insurances.

(5) Medical Care
Under national regulations, recruited employee are entitled to preferential treatment in medical care. Xiamen University shall assist faculty in completing the formalities for medical care.

(6)Taxes
Faculty need to pay the individual income tax according to the Individual Income Tax Law of the People's Republic of China, Xiamen University will assist them in paying individual income tax by cutting it from their salary according to relevant provisions
